Wine Facts
Winemaker Notes The grapes used in this Portwine are a mix of two lots. One consists of mixed old vineyards with several varieties mixed together in the field and the second one was made with Touriga Nacional. The grapes were fermented separately with 50% of the must mixed with the stems in order to extract higher acidity which will contribute to longevity and structure in the wine. Fermentation was arrested with the addition of a spirit. After this the wine aged for 20 months in stainless steel vats. Quinta do Vallado has been producing Portwine wine since the beginning of the 19th century.
