Chateau Branaire

Château Branaire-Ducru is a highly consistent Fourth Growth in Saint-Julien, prized for elegance over excess. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The wines are often scented rather than massive, showing blackcurrant, pencil shavings, tobacco leaf and a distinctly fine-grained texture. Branaire’s strength is proportion: it rarely chases sheer weight, and that restraint allows the estate to deliver claret of real finesse and classical ageing potential.
