A family wine merchant since 1901

LuxuriousDrinks.com operates under the stewardship of Wijnhandel Dielen, a Dutch family wine merchant based in Venlo, whose history with fine wines dates back to 1901.

Over more than a century, the business has developed from a local merchant into an internationally connected house, built on disciplined buying, long-term relationships, and a rigorous respect for provenance. Since 2015, the third generation of the Dielen family has continued this work, combining inherited knowledge with a modern, global perspective.

In December 2025, LuxuriousDrinks.com became part of this family business. The transition was deliberate and restrained—focused not on reinvention, but on strengthening the foundation: placing a substantial online collection under the guidance of a merchant whose work has always centred on selection, storage, and responsibility.

Direct sourcing and long-standing relationships

Over decades, Wijnhandel Dielen has built enduring relationships with producers across the world’s most important wine regions, including France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, California, and Australia.

From the early 1990s onwards, the company began importing directly from wineries, growing into partnerships with more than 80 producers. These relationships are not transactional; they are built on continuity, trust, and shared standards.

This direct access continues to shape the character of the collection today, ensuring both authenticity and consistency in sourcing.

Selection as judgement

Selection is not a matter of volume—it is a matter of judgement.

Every wine offered is included because it expresses its origin with clarity and can be delivered in proper condition. Some wines are intended for immediate enjoyment; others require time and patience. Understanding that distinction is fundamental.

The result is a focused yet diverse collection of more than 4,000 wines, spanning classic regions, respected producers, and carefully chosen newer discoveries.

Champagnes are chosen for balance, identity, and longevity. Port wines are selected with attention to structure, age, and provenance. Beyond the website, a quieter layer exists: rare bottles, mature vintages, and limited allocations available through direct contact.

Not every bottle is intended for broad visibility. Certain mature wines, limited allocations, and privately held stock are available only through direct contact.

This quieter side of the collection reflects the same principles as the public catalogue: provenance, condition, and sound judgement.

Bottles are stored under appropriate conditions and shipped without haste. Temperature stability, presentation, and overall integrity are non-negotiable. What is offered is expected to arrive as intended.
