Château Haut-Brion is one of Bordeaux’s defining estates: the only wine outside the Médoc included among the five First Growths of the 1855 classification and one of the earliest Bordeaux names to achieve worldwide renown. Located in Pessac, the estate produces red wine from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc on deep gravel soils, yielding a style that marries dark fruit, smoke, cigar box, earth and extraordinary textural complexity. Haut-Brion is less about sheer monumentality than complete harmony. Few wines in Bordeaux age with more nuance.
