Domaine du Caillou is a respected family estate located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the southern Rhône Valley. Founded in 1956 by Lucien Pouizin, the domaine is now run by his granddaughter Marielle Coulon. Over the decades the estate has earned a strong reputation for producing classic Rhône wines that combine richness with balance and finesse.
The vineyards are spread across several parcels within the appellation, planted on the region’s characteristic soils of galets roulés, sand and clay. Grenache forms the backbone of the red blends, supported by Syrah and Mourvèdre. The wines typically display aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and plum, layered with notes of garrigue herbs, pepper and licorice that define the style of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Winemaking follows a traditional philosophy focused on preserving fruit purity and expressing terroir. Gentle extraction and ageing in large oak casks or used barrels bring structure and complexity without overwhelming the fruit. The resulting wines are expressive southern Rhône classics with depth, elegance and excellent ageing potential.
