Kistler Vineyards is widely regarded as one of the benchmark producers of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Sonoma County, California. Founded in 1978 by Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler, the winery quickly gained a reputation for producing site-driven wines that reflect the character of California’s cooler coastal vineyards. Over the decades, Kistler has become one of the most respected names in American Chardonnay.
The vineyards are located in carefully selected sites across the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast, where Pacific fog and cool maritime influences allow for long, balanced ripening. Chardonnay forms the core of the portfolio and is often bottled from individual vineyard sites. These wines are known for their richness and texture, offering aromas of ripe apple, citrus and white peach layered with subtle notes of toasted brioche and hazelnut.
Kistler also produces highly regarded Pinot Noir that expresses the elegance of Sonoma’s cooler terroirs. These wines typically reveal red cherry, raspberry and delicate earthy nuances. In the cellar, traditional winemaking techniques such as native yeast fermentation and ageing in French oak barrels are used to preserve complexity and structure. The resulting wines combine depth, finesse and impressive ageing potential.
