Weingut Selbach-Oster is a historic family estate located in Zeltingen along the Mosel River in Germany. The Selbach family has cultivated vineyards here since the seventeenth century and today the winery is considered one of the leading producers of classic Mosel Riesling. The estate is run by Johannes Selbach, who has brought international recognition to the domaine.
The vineyards include parcels in some of the most celebrated steep slopes of the Mosel, such as Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Zeltinger Schlossberg, Graacher Himmelreich and Bernkasteler Badstube. These sites are dominated by blue and red slate soils that store heat and contribute distinctive minerality to the wines. The steep slopes and old vines naturally limit yields, resulting in wines of remarkable precision and concentration.
Selbach-Oster is best known for its classic, terroir-driven style of Riesling. The wines often show aromas of green apple, lime and white peach, complemented by floral notes and a vibrant mineral backbone. The lively acidity typical of Mosel Riesling provides freshness and exceptional ageing potential.
From dry Grosses Gewächs to delicate Kabinett and richly textured Auslese wines, Selbach-Oster produces a wide range of styles that highlight the elegance and purity of the Mosel terroir.
