Woodlands Wines is a historic winery located in the Margaret River region of Western Australia. The estate was founded in 1973 by David and Heather Watson and is considered one of the pioneering wineries that helped establish Margaret River as one of Australia’s leading wine regions.
The original vineyards were planted on gravelly soils reminiscent of those found in Bordeaux. Combined with the region’s maritime climate, these soils provide excellent conditions for classic Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc.
Woodlands wines are known for their structure, balance and ageing potential. Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaret River typically displays aromas of cassis, blackcurrant, plum and subtle mint, often accompanied by notes of cedar, graphite and spice.
Through careful vineyard management and traditional winemaking practices, Woodlands Wines has built a reputation as one of the benchmark producers of Margaret River, crafting wines that combine power with elegance.
