The Ahrens Family’s Black 2020, from Swartland, is a Syrah from old vines on granite soils. Crafted by Donsie Ahrens, it reflects the 2020 vintage’s balance. Fermented in open tanks and aged 12 months in old oak, it shows deep ruby with blackberry, pepper, and spice aromas, plus earth and minerality. Full-bodied, it offers firm tannins, fresh acidity (5.6 g/L), and rich fruit with a smoky finish. Sustainable practices ensure quality. Ideal for steak or game, it evolves through 2030. A bold Swartland red.
