Bodegas Vega Sicilia is one of the most legendary wineries in Spain and an iconic name from the Ribera del Duero appellation. Located near the village of Valbuena de Duero in the province of Valladolid, the estate dates back to the 19th century and has built an extraordinary reputation as one of the greatest producers of Spanish fine wine.
The vineyards lie on limestone and alluvial soils along the Duero River. The estate covers more than a thousand hectares of land, with a portion planted to vines. Tempranillo, locally known as Tinto Fino, forms the backbone of the wines and is often complemented by small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon. The continental climate, with warm days and cool nights, allows the grapes to develop both concentration and freshness.
Vega Sicilia wines are renowned for their elegance, structure and remarkable ageing potential. The flagship wines Único and Valbuena 5º are among the most sought-after wines in Spain. They typically display aromas of black cherry, cassis and plum layered with notes of cedar, tobacco, leather and spice derived from extended ageing in both French and American oak barrels.
Because the wines are released only after exceptionally long maturation, Vega Sicilia combines depth and power with remarkable refinement and complexity. Today the estate remains one of the most prestigious names in the global wine world.
