Château Cos d’Estournel is one of Saint-Estèphe’s great estates and a Second Growth in the 1855 classification. The property’s hilltop position near the Gironde and its deep gravel soils favour Cabernet Sauvignon, which gives the wine a commanding frame, dark fruit, graphite and a signature exotic spice note that has long set Cos apart. Even in richer vintages the wine tends to keep a strong sense of architecture. It is a château that has always leaned toward drama, but its best bottles combine scale with remarkable freshness and persistence.
