Château d’Esclans changed the image of Provençal rosé on the world stage. Based in the hills of Provence and best known for labels such as Whispering Angel and Garrus, the estate showed that rosé could move beyond simple summer quaffing into a more ambitious, terroir-conscious category. Grenache and Rolle play central roles, and the wines range from bright, fruit-driven styles to barrel-influenced cuvées with more texture, spice and gastronomic breadth. Whatever one thinks of the branding, the estate’s impact on global rosé culture is undeniable.
