Domaine de la Solitude is one of the historic estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the southern Rhône Valley. The property has been in the hands of the Lançon family for several generations and takes its name from the quiet, secluded setting of the vineyards on the plateau surrounding the village. With a long history tied to the development of the appellation, the domaine today remains a respected reference for traditional Rhône winemaking.
The vineyards are planted on the classic soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where rounded galets roulés stones cover layers of clay and sand. These stones absorb heat during the day and release it slowly at night, helping grapes ripen fully in the Mediterranean climate. Grenache forms the backbone of the red wines, often supported by Syrah, Mourvèdre and other permitted varieties. The resulting wines show ripe aromas of black cherry, plum and garrigue herbs, with notes of pepper, licorice and warm spice typical of the region.
Domaine de la Solitude produces both red and white Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The reds are structured and generous yet balanced by freshness, while the whites—made from varieties such as Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Roussanne—offer floral aromas, stone fruit and subtle richness. Across the range the wines combine the warmth and depth of the southern Rhône with a classic sense of harmony, making Domaine de la Solitude a reliable expression of this historic appellation.
