Hobbs of Barossa Ranges is a small family-run winery located in the elevated Barossa Ranges of South Australia, a cooler and more rugged part of the renowned Barossa region. Founded by Greg Hobbs and his family, the estate has built a reputation for wines that combine the richness of Barossa fruit with the freshness and structure provided by higher-altitude vineyards.
The vineyards are planted on steep slopes with poor, rocky soils that naturally limit yields and concentrate flavor. Shiraz is the cornerstone of production, supported by varieties such as Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier. The wines often display deep aromas of blackberry, dark cherry and plum layered with notes of cracked pepper, violet, dark chocolate and subtle spice.
Hobbs emphasizes careful vineyard management and small-batch winemaking. Grapes are hand harvested, carefully sorted and matured in French oak barrels to enhance structure and complexity.
