Kalleske is a historic family winery located in Greenock in the renowned Barossa Valley wine region of South Australia. The Kalleske family settled in the area in 1853 and represents one of the oldest winegrowing families in the Barossa. Today the estate is run by the seventh generation of the family.
The vineyards are located around Greenock, an area known for its old vines and powerful Shiraz wines. Kalleske practices organic and biodynamic viticulture, focusing on sustainable farming and respect for the vineyard ecosystem. Key grape varieties include Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Mataro, many of which come from old vine plantings.
Kalleske wines are known for their richness and depth. Typical aromas include blackberries, plum, spice and chocolate, supported by firm structure and ripe tannins. Thanks to their concentration and balance, many of the wines have excellent ageing potential.
