Saintsbury is a Carneros-based winery in California, a region known for its cool climate and exceptional conditions for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Founded in 1981 by David Graves and Richard Ward, the winery is considered one of the pioneers that helped establish Carneros as a leading region for refined California Pinot Noir.
The vineyards are located in the southern parts of Napa Valley and Sonoma, where cooling breezes from the San Pablo Bay create ideal conditions for slow and even grape ripening. This results in wines with freshness, balance and elegant structure. Saintsbury Pinot Noir typically displays aromas of red cherry, raspberry and strawberry, complemented by subtle notes of spice, floral hints and gentle earthy complexity.
Saintsbury follows a terroir-focused philosophy and works with carefully selected vineyard sites throughout Carneros and other coastal Californian regions. In the cellar, winemaking emphasizes precision and respect for the fruit, producing wines that combine elegance, purity and a clear expression of their cool-climate origins.
