Zuccardi is one of the most influential family wineries in Mendoza, Argentina, with vineyards located throughout the high-altitude Uco Valley. The estate was founded in 1963 by engineer Alberto Zuccardi, who originally developed an irrigation system designed to support agriculture in the arid Mendoza region. Over time the project evolved into one of Argentina’s most respected wine estates. Today the winery is led by the third generation of the family, with Sebastián Zuccardi serving as winemaker.
The vineyards are spread across several distinctive terroirs of the Uco Valley, including Paraje Altamira, Gualtallary and San Pablo. High elevation, intense sunlight and cool nights allow the grapes to develop concentration while preserving freshness. Limestone-rich soils contribute structure and mineral character. Malbec is the flagship grape of the estate, complemented by varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Bonarda, Chardonnay and Torrontés.
Zuccardi’s winemaking philosophy focuses strongly on terroir expression. The Malbec wines typically reveal aromas of black cherry, plum and violet, layered with hints of graphite, herbs and a distinctive stony minerality derived from the soils of the Uco Valley. Rather than relying heavily on oak, the winery emphasizes purity of fruit and precision, often using concrete fermentation vessels and large oak casks.
In recent years Zuccardi has received global recognition and has been named World’s Best Vineyard multiple times. The estate is widely considered a benchmark producer representing the modern identity of Argentine wine.
