Champagne Drappier is a historic Champagne house located in Urville in the Côte des Bar, the southern part of the Champagne region in France. The estate has been owned by the Drappier family since the early nineteenth century and today is run by Michel Drappier together with the next generation of the family. Over the decades the house has gained a reputation for expressive, terroir-driven Champagnes that emphasize purity of fruit.
The vineyards of Drappier are largely planted with Pinot Noir, a grape that thrives in the Kimmeridgian limestone soils of the Côte des Bar, soils similar to those found in nearby Chablis. While Pinot Noir forms the backbone of many cuvées, the house also works with Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and several rare historical Champagne varieties. Drappier is known for its minimal intervention philosophy, low dosage levels and careful cellar work, allowing the character of the fruit and terroir to shine.
Drappier Champagnes are typically generous and expressive, offering aromas of red berries, citrus, white peach and subtle pastry notes. The wines combine richness with freshness and fine mousse, making them both approachable and capable of developing complexity with ageing.
Food pairing: Champagne Drappier pairs beautifully with oysters, sushi, lobster, grilled fish and refined poultry dishes. The richer Pinot Noir-based cuvées also complement dishes such as roasted duck, creamy risotto or soft cheeses. Discover more combinations in our food pairing guide.
