Domaine du Vieux Donjon is a historic family estate located in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in the southern Rhône Valley. The domaine has been managed by the Michel family for several generations and is known for producing wines in a classic, terroir-driven style.
The vineyards are spread across several parcels within the appellation and feature the typical Rhône soils of galets roulés, sand and clay. Grenache forms the backbone of the wines, often supported by smaller proportions of Syrah, Mourvèdre and other traditional Rhône varieties.
Wines from Domaine du Vieux Donjon are appreciated for their balance of power and elegance. They often display aromas of ripe cherry, raspberry and blackberry, complemented by notes of garrigue herbs, pepper and subtle earthy nuances.
With its traditional winemaking philosophy and focus on pure terroir expression, Domaine du Vieux Donjon is widely respected among the producers of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
