d’Arenberg is a historic winery located in McLaren Vale in South Australia, a region internationally renowned for its rich and expressive wines. The family estate was founded in 1912 and is currently run by Chester Osborn, the fourth generation of the Osborn family.
The vineyards of d’Arenberg are spread across a variety of terroirs within McLaren Vale, including sandstone, clay and limestone-based soils. This diversity allows the estate to cultivate several grape varieties. Shiraz plays a central role in the winery’s portfolio, alongside Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon and several white varieties.
d’Arenberg wines are known for their intensity and distinctive character. Shiraz wines typically display aromas of blackberry, plum, pepper and dark chocolate, complemented by earthy and spicy nuances.
One of the estate’s most iconic wines is The Dead Arm Shiraz, a cuvée that has gained international recognition for its depth, structure and impressive ageing potential. d’Arenberg combines traditional winemaking techniques with a strong focus on terroir expression.
