Rum
Rum is a distilled alcoholic beverage often aged in oak barrels and created from sugarcane byproducts like molasses, honey, and occasionally even molasses. Depending on the method of distillation and the length of time the rum is aged, there may be significant differences in the resulting taste, color, and proof. White rum is usually clear and has a milder taste than black rum, which is matured for a longer length of time and is darker in color and has a stronger flavor. Adding spices like cinnamon and nutmeg to rum creates a tasty variant known as spiced rum. Flavorings like fruit, vanilla, or caramel may be added to certain rums.
