Product description
Hailing from the prestigious Forster Kirchenstück vineyard in Pfalz, the Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Kirchenstück G.C. 2015 Magnum is a pinnacle of biodynamic Riesling craftsmanship. This Grand Cru (G.C.) wine, produced from a mere 0.5-hectare plot, is celebrated as the “queen” of the estate’s holdings, a designation rooted in its top rating in the 1828 Royal Bavarian Land Tax Classification. The 2015 vintage, bottled in a magnum format, showcases a radiant golden hue and an intense, multifaceted bouquet. Aromas of ripe apricot, Meyer lemon, and white peach intertwine with hints of flint, wet stone, and subtle herbal nuances, reflecting the basalt and clay-rich soils of the vineyard. On the palate, this Riesling is a masterclass in precision and power, offering a concentrated core of stone fruit and citrus, framed by vibrant acidity and a pronounced mineral backbone. The texture is silky yet structured, with fine tannins adding depth and a lingering, saline finish that speaks to its biodynamic origins. Fermented in large neutral oak casks, the wine retains purity while gaining complexity from extended lees contact. With a decade of aging, the 2015 Kirchenstück G.C. is approaching its peak, revealing secondary notes of honeycomb and petrol. This magnum is ideal for collectors or special gatherings, pairing exquisitely with lobster, roasted poultry, or creamy risottos. Dr. Bürklin-Wolf’s commitment to biodynamic viticulture since 2005 ensures a wine that is not only exceptional but also a true expression of its terroir, with the potential to evolve for another decade.
