Product description
Niepoort’s Vertente 2008, from Portugal’s Douro Valley, reflects the estate’s innovative approach under Dirk Niepoort. Blending Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and others from old vines on schist soils, this wine captures Cima Corgo’s rugged charm. The 2008 vintage, cooler than 2004, produced vibrant, structured wines. Fermented in stainless steel and aged 18 months in French oak (20% new), it shows deep ruby hues with black cherry, cassis, and herbal aromas, plus graphite and spice. Medium-bodied, it balances firm tannins, lively acidity (5.6 g/L), and bright fruit, with a mineral-driven finish. Sustainable viticulture ensures purity. Perfect for roasted lamb or cheeses, it’s at its peak but evolves through 2026. A vibrant expression of Douro’s terroir.
