Mexican Tequila

Tequila is a Mexican distillate based on the sap of the blue agave. This large succulent occurs naturally in many parts of Mexico. The heart of the tequila production is traditionally in the state of Jalisco, around the town of Tequila, where the drink is named. The history of tequila goes back to the 16th century, when Spanish conquistadors conquered Mexico. Today there are annually more than 300 million agave harvested for the production of tequila. According to Mexican law, tequila can only be called as if in geographically designated areas produced.
